Complete Transparency

Know your factories, your costs
and always ask why.

Know your factories

We spent months looking for the best factory to produce the best T-Shirts — the very same one that produces some of your favourite designer labels. We're looking forward to visiting the factory on a regular basis, and to building strong personal relationships with the owners.

We're convinced this hands-on approach is the most effective way to assure our customers of the factory's integrity and its stringent compliance with EU regulations.

Know your costs

We believe customers have the right to know what their purchases cost to make. At clothPROJECT we reveal our true costs, and then we show you our markup.

In traditional retail a designer Tee is often marked up by up to 10x by the time it reaches the customer. By being online only, we eliminate brick-and-mortar expenses and pass these savings on to you, our customer.

Always ask why

We constantly challenge the status quo and are never complacent. The clothPROJECT culture means we dissect every single decisions at every level of the company.

Our philosophy caters to discerning individuals who take nothing for granted and always question why? Why should we not see where and how our products are made? clothPROJECT answers these questions using ethical and

'Why land a job, when you can create something of value your customers deserve.'

clothPROJECT's Manifesto

Their mission

clothPROJECT’s goal is to bring reform within the fashion industry and make it fairer, more transparent and ethical regarding its processes, its provenance and its impact on the environment. It’s difficult to go up against the big players that dictate the industry, but clothPROJECT believes that with your help, they can slowly start to make a difference.

Transparent Values

Their goal is to make sure their customers know as much about their clothes as they do -where they’re from, how they’re made and what goes into them. clothPROJECT wants its customers to know that they are actively reforming the way the fashion industry operates.

Fairness

clothPROJECT is committed to being transparent about its processes from start to finish. The company will not just make sure they use the best materials and factories, but they’ll ensure everyone involved in the process is treated and rewarded fairly. By planning factory visits, clothPROJECT is convinced this hands-on approach is the most effective way to assure their customers of the factory's integrity and its stringent compliance with EU regulations. In fact, the factory boasts PME Lider and SGS certification badges which are a symbol of trustworthy businesses.

Environment

In a world of overconsumption, the fast fashion trend has consumers believing their clothes are old after a week of having purchased them. Instead, clothPROJECT believes in the slow fashion movement, where an item of clothing should be worn throughout the years and seasons to come. That’s why they are committed to producing low minimum quantities and maximising the durability of their garments which ensures their customers will be keeping their T-Shirts for a long time and that waste is kept to a minimum. As for the dye, the dying factory which is also bound by strict European and Portuguese laws to minimise its impact on the environment.

The truth behind the quality

This is a difficult topic for them to approach as their customers will have to take their word for it. They won’t blame you if you don’t – unless you’ve actually felt one... clothPROJECT’s T-shirts are made in the same factories as your favourite designer brands. The founder traced back a few of the high-end brands selling amazing ethical t-shirts, and believed the mark-ups were unfair in exchange for his peace of mind. So clothPROJECT was born by offering a designer product at a fair price.

A little about the founder

Robin Da Silva Laires was frustrated at the need to pay high prices for designer quality Tees or accept poorer quality tees at lower prices with less transparency. He was convinced that he could offer the same high quality tees to his friends at a fraction of the price whilst staying fair. It was this idea that led him to launch clothPROJECT and promise that he will keep as clothPROJECT grows.
